Prolog Original quality brought in by three links: Farmer, roaster and barista.

Coffee quality is brought about in three links: Farmer, roaster and barista. We work hard to ensure that these three links collaborate, working towards the collective goal: Exploring coffee’s taste potential.

As coffee is grown far from Denmark, it is important for us to work with transparency. With our Direct Trade model, we lay out a distinct set of criteria for our trading with the producers.

Direct Trade is based on the notion that the better the quality we get, the better price we are able to pay, and the better quality we will have again the following year and so forth.

Ultimately, our dream is for a coffee farmer in Kenya to obtain the same status and living conditions as a wine grower in France.

What is Prolog?

We are caring craftsmen on a constant chase for our next coffee high, and balance commitment and curiosity to get there.

There is no great cup of coffee without a great beginning. This is why we have committed ourselves to work only with passionate farmers who cultivate their coffee plants with dedication.

When we turn on the Loring, we keep this dedication in mind to achieve the best possible expression the green beans have to offer.

Quality and sustainability.

Too often these are seen as separated issues where we either pay a higher price for a lower quality or get good quality without the farmers being recognized for their dedication to quality and genuine hard work.

ROAST was built on the belief that there is a strong synergy between quality and sustainability. Fair prices can lead to better quality and better quality can lead to sustainability if the famers are recognized for their work.

Democratically serving Copenhageners their craved coffee since 2011.

Located in the busy Krystalgade in Copenhagen’s center, close to Nørreport, this coffee shop is named after its location in one of the most democratic places you’ll find – the library.

Every day, Democratic Coffee attracts lots of students, business people or whoever just want a great cup of coffee, often accompanied by the cafés specialty – their almond croissant, which is freshly baked at the spot twice a day.

If you’re looking for a good place to study, read the paper or enjoy your morning coffee in the vibrant heart of Copenhagen, this place is worth a visit.

Pastry & Coffee

Just like the famous pastry, all the baked goodies are homemade right behind the counter. But, most importantly is of course the coffee. Democratic Coffee specialises in single origin, light roasted coffee which they’ve just recently started selling as beans as well.

The small company don’t have the capacity to roast in-house, so they head over to The Factory at Refshaleøen, where you can book a coffee roaster – who knew that was a thing?

Forloren Espresso is a Coffee Shop - not a Cafe

We primarily serve high quality coffee but we do have a few choices for guests who do not enjoy coffee as much as we do;

These include tea, hot chocolate, bottled juices and fruit drinks. A very little selection of sweet and savoury items is available — but will often sell out during the day.

Facilities

Forloren Espresso is a small shop with around 14 seats. We serve coffee based beverages to be enjoyed in the shop or to take away, but please be aware that this is not a “fast food” coffee shop, each cup is made with the same care.

While there may be no line at the counter, we may be busy fulfilling orders already placed by seated customers. If you are in a hurry, please ask and we will give you an estimate on the current waiting time.

Brewed by Friends

Original Coffee is a group of coffee shops and we are located eight places in and around Copenhagen! They range from two hidden gems on the top of Illum, to a place for people in Østerbro, to the meeting place at Microsoft.

We want to create a good experience every time where the interaction between the guest and the barista is at the centre. Original Coffee is working closely with Kontra Kaffe, where we buy, assemble and toast our coffee beans.

Accountability

Original Coffee Operates several coffee shops in Denmark. Our coffee shops are typically located in local environments in Copenhagen, and with each place we seek to welcome everyone in a peculiar local environment that we ourselves love. At our coffee shops we will cherish the local environments and we will drive our coffee shops with respect for the society we are a part of.

We are conscious of our responsibility to uphold human dignity, protect the environment and, in general, to conduct fair business, and therefore we engage in partnerships for accountability. Through our commitment to Rega (the Restauratators guarantee scheme), we are committed to working systematically to improve our work with social, environmental and economic sustainability. The journey began in the spring of 2018, and we will, towards the update of this policy, take the next steps in our work on social responsibility.

Flowers and Coffee

Sankt Hans Torv is buzzing with life, several popular cafes are located here. The square is a good starting point for a trip down Elmegade, which might be one of the most exciting streets in the Nørrebro district.

Located on the corner you will find a slightly unusual coffee shop, here at Kaffeplantagen there is scent of flowers and quality coffee.

Kaffeplantagen is founded by two young people who previously owned a flower shop, and once a week they still buy flowers that makes the coffee shop a little oasis.

Coffee, tea, chocolate and delicious accessories

At Kaffeplantagen you will be served good coffee from all over the world, it is served in a myriad of variations. The hot chocolate is from the Danish chocolaterie Summerbird and the teas are carefully selected.

As a supplement for your coffee or tea you can order petits fours from Summerbird, brownies, croissants and muffins. The quality is cuddled, but the atmosphere in the coffee shop is unsnobbish.

Kaffevaerk; Roastery, Webshop & Coffeebar

Kaffevaerk is roasting their own coffee

As you enter this little piece of coffee heaven you get a hint of stepping into a shared home amongst the Frederiksberg residents.

The usual suspects in the cosy little café are easy to spot having their daily caffeine fix while glancing through the newspapers and watching the bypassing pedestrians on the other side of the window.

Kaffevaerk

Next to the counter Kaffeværk displays a pretty impressive selection of both equipment and various beans from all over the world. Despite the large focus on various brewtypes and perfectly roasted beens you will hardly ever find the hipsters hanging out here.

Maybe the reason is that they grab their coffee to go and head across the street to the beautiful Frederiksberg Gardens for a walk along the canals amongst the swans and herons.
